The Auburn Tigers have continued their aggressive rebuild in the trenches, adding another experienced piece to the offensive line with the signing of Stanford transfer Jack Leyrer. Leyrer arrives on the Plains with one season of eligibility remaining after spending the past five years at Stanford. A native of Dallas, Texas, he brings both experience and positional versatility, having played snaps at left tackle and left guard during his collegiate career. While injuries sidelined him for the entire 2025 season, his body of work prior to that offers Auburn a proven option with meaningful game experience at the Power Five level.
Over the course of his Stanford career, Leyrer appeared in 26 games and made 16 starts, gradually working his way into a consistent role. He did not see the field as a true freshman in 2021 and played sparingly in 2022, appearing in four games after redshirting. His breakthrough came in 2023, when he cracked the offensive line rotation, playing in 10 games and earning three starts. That season showed glimpses of his potential, even as his role fluctuated between the offensive line and special teams.
Leyrer’s most productive year came in 2024, when he established himself as a regular starter. He started 10 games and appeared in all 12, doing most of his work at left guard. While his overall Pro Football Focus grade of 55.6 reflected some inconsistency, his pass protection stood out. Leyrer posted a 66.9 pass-blocking grade, allowing just four sacks and 20 total pressures across 416 pass-blocking snaps, numbers that suggest a level of reliability Auburn has been seeking up front.
From a recruiting standpoint, Leyrer may not carry headline-grabbing portal rankings, as he is listed as the No. 1626 overall player and No. 127 offensive tackle in the transfer portal by 247Sports. Still, Auburn’s pursuit of experienced linemen speaks more to fit, depth, and stability than star ratings. For a team looking to reestablish physicality and consistency in the SEC, veteran presence and positional flexibility can be just as valuable as upside.
Leyrer becomes the seventh offensive line transfer signed by new head coach Alex Golesh, underscoring just how significant the overhaul has been since the end of last season. Auburn’s offensive line struggled mightily in 2025, and Golesh has wasted little time attacking that weakness through the transfer portal. By bringing in players with college starts and exposure to high-level competition, Auburn is aiming to raise the floor of the unit while developing long-term solutions behind them.
More broadly, Leyrer is part of a massive portal haul for Auburn. The Tigers have now signed 30 transfer players, giving them the No. 12 transfer class nationally and the sixth-best class in the SEC, according to 247Sports. Notably, 13 of those additions are former USF Bulls, following Golesh from Tampa to Auburn and helping establish continuity in his system during the transition.
As Auburn moves closer to the upcoming season, Leyrer’s role will likely come into focus during camp as the Tigers sort through an increasingly crowded and competitive offensive line room.
