While the Auburn Tigers are still competing this season, the coaching staff is already preparing for the 2026–27 roster. Ahead of their NIT Final Four appearance, Auburn added French professional Narcisse Ngoy.
Ngoy, a 7-foot center who has been playing professionally since age 17, is currently putting up strong numbers for Poitiers Basket 86 in France’s second division. The 21-year-old is averaging around 21 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 70 percent from two-point range.
Assistant coach Steven Pearl expressed excitement about the signing, highlighting Ngoy’s toughness, physical style, and team-first mentality. He also praised Ngoy’s instincts, finishing ability, rim protection, and willingness to embrace contact, noting that he should make an immediate impact and address a key need for the team.
Auburn had issues at the center position this past season, relying heavily on Keyshawn Murphy after Emeka Oporum missed extended time due to medical issues. With Murphy no longer on the roster, Ngoy is expected to step in and fill that gap.
Pearl also emphasized that Ngoy’s biggest strength is his commitment to winning, pointing out that he focuses on doing the physical, unselfish work needed for team success.
Meanwhile, Auburn returns to action Thursday night in Indianapolis, where they’ll face Indiana State Sycamores in the NIT Final Four.
