Major Report: Phillies Set to sign $350M World Series champion, 4-time All-Star with Despise injury

The Philadelphia Phillies’ primary objective this offseason is to re-sign Kyle Schwarber. The veteran left-handed slugger has been a key piece of their lineup for years, but with age becoming a factor, retaining him isn’t without its risks.

TBOH’s Matt Grazel argued that the Phillies should avoid offering Schwarber a long-term deal. “Not re-signing him would hurt the offense and force the front office to find a replacement for his power bat,” Grazel wrote. “But if they commit to multiple years and his production declines, that’s a different kind of risk. This roster needs major changes, and while unpopular, moving on from Schwarber could give Dombrowski the opportunity to reshape the team—which is necessary right now.”

If Schwarber does return, Philadelphia could also make a push for another star — Kyle Tucker.

“Tucker, a 28-year-old and four-time All-Star, remains in line for a lucrative contract despite battling injuries and a drop in second-half performance,” Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley noted. “His long-term outlook is still promising enough to earn a big payday. Prediction: Tucker signs with the Philadelphia Phillies.”

Philadelphia appears well-positioned to land Tucker, especially after his recent remarks suggested the Chicago Cubs might be out of contention.

“We’ll see what happens,” Tucker said. “I don’t know what the future holds, but it’s been an honor playing with these guys. I wish everyone the best—whether we play together next year or not.”

Given the Phillies’ recent spending trends, a Tucker signing seems plausible—unless the Los Angeles Dodgers decide to outbid them.

If the deal happens, the Phillies would add even more firepower—though Tucker’s health will be the key variable. It’s a move that carries significant risk but equally high potential reward.
