The Texas Rangers could be heading toward a major offseason shake-up after a disappointing 2026 campaign, and one prominent prediction has them pursuing one of baseball’s most intriguing and polarizing infielders.
Three years removed from their historic World Series championship, the Rangers have struggled to replicate that success. While Texas remains within striking distance of the postseason in a relatively weak American League West, the club has spent much of the season on the outside of the playoff picture. With the 2026 season potentially nearing its conclusion, attention is already beginning to turn toward what the Rangers need to do differently in 2027.
One of the biggest areas Texas could address is the infield, particularly by adding another left-handed bat. According to Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter, the Rangers could target New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. during the upcoming offseason.
Reuter projected Chisholm as a potential addition to Texas while predicting the Rangers’ 2027 Opening Day lineup. The move would represent an aggressive attempt by the organization to add athleticism, versatility and left-handed power to its lineup.
“Finding a clean landing spot for Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not easy, but he would give the Rangers the boost in athleticism and left-handed pop they are lacking, albeit at a premium price,” Reuter wrote.
Chisholm would certainly bring plenty of intrigue to Texas. The dynamic infielder has established himself as one of the more athletic players in the game and has the ability to impact a lineup with both his power and speed. His versatility could also give the Rangers additional flexibility when constructing their roster.
However, the potential move would not come without questions.
Chisholm has been one of the more polarizing players in Major League Baseball, with his exciting style of play often accompanied by scrutiny surrounding consistency, injuries and his overall long-term fit. That combination could make him a fascinating but potentially expensive offseason target.
For the Rangers, however, the upside could be difficult to ignore.

Whether the Yankees would actually make Chisholm available is another question.
