Holmes also brings valuable playoff experience from his years with the New York Yankees, where he established himself as one of baseball’s top late-inning relievers before converting back to a starter with the Mets.
While Holmes headlines the trade, Tyrone Taylor could prove to be an equally valuable addition. The veteran outfielder has quietly enjoyed an impressive stretch since returning from a hip injury, providing strong defense while finding his rhythm offensively. Since late June, Taylor has been one of the Mets’ hottest hitters, showcasing improved power and consistent production at the plate.
