Dwayne Aristode entered the transfer portal on Monday with a do-not-contact tag.
The Auburn Tigers are already making moves to reshape their roster for the 2026–27 season, and one name quickly emerging as a priority is Dwayne Aristode. Following the departure of key forwards, including KeShawn Murphy’s graduation and Filip Jovic transferring to UCLA Bruins, Auburn finds itself in urgent need of frontcourt reinforcements.
According to reports from On3, Auburn has positioned itself as an early contender for Aristode, a former five-star recruit who recently entered the transfer portal with a do-not-contact designation. That tag typically signals a player may already have a preferred destination or a short list in mind, making Auburn’s early emergence in the race particularly notable. Head coach Steven Pearl is actively reworking his roster after multiple departures, with Aristode reportedly viewed as a top priority target.
Aristode, a 6-foot-8 forward who spent his freshman season with the Arizona Wildcats, showed flashes of potential despite limited playing time. He averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in just over 13 minutes per game. His standout performance came early in the season when he scored 18 points in a dominant win over Northern Arizona, showcasing the scoring ability that made him such a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school. He was ranked as a composite five-star prospect and the No. 7 small forward in the 2025 class, highlighting the upside that still makes him an आकर्षive option in the portal.
Although his role at Arizona remained limited, Aristode gained valuable experience, including minutes in high-pressure situations like the NCAA Tournament. For Auburn, the appeal is clear. Aristode brings size, versatility, and long-term upside, all while still having multiple years of eligibility remaining. If Auburn succeeds in landing Aristode, he would join a returning core that includes Tahaad Pettiford, Kevin Overton, and Sebastian Williams-Adams, along with incoming French big man Narcisse Ngoy. The coaching staff is also awaiting a decision from Elyjah Freeman, whose return would further solidify the roster.
The push for Aristode comes after a transitional first season under Pearl. Auburn endured an inconsistent campaign, finishing 7–11 in SEC play and missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021. However, the Tigers ended the year on a high note by capturing the NIT championship with an overtime win over Tulsa, providing momentum heading into the offseason.
Now, with roster turnover creating both challenges and opportunities, Auburn’s early pursuit of a former five-star talent like Aristode signals a clear intent to reload quickly and return to NCAA Tournament contention.
