An experienced member of the Auburn Tigers’ defensive line will return for another season, as defensive tackle Dallas Walker IV has been granted an additional year of eligibility.
Walker was one of many college players who petitioned the NCAA for an extra season, and his waiver was approved after Auburn successfully argued his unique eligibility circumstances. Although Walker spent three years enrolled at Texas A&M, his first season in 2020 did not count due to the COVID-19 exemption. He redshirted in 2021 and did not play football in 2022, which ultimately helped support his case for another year of eligibility.
The decision provides timely relief for Auburn’s coaching staff as new head coach Alex Golesh and his assistants continue reshaping the roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Walker is now set to enter his seventh collegiate season this fall, bringing veteran leadership and valuable experience to the Tigers’ defensive front.
After beginning his career at Texas A&M, Walker transferred to Western Kentucky, where he spent two seasons before joining Auburn last year under former head coach Hugh Freeze. In 2025, Walker played a significant role for the Tigers, logging the second-most snaps on the defensive line.
According to Auburn Undercover, Walker is expected to compete for a starting role at nose tackle this season. His return strengthens a defensive line group that also includes rising sophomores Jourdin Crawford, Darrion Smith, and Malik Autry.
Auburn has also added fresh talent to the unit. The Tigers signed freshman defensive linemen Tavian Branch and Corey Wells, while bolstering depth through the transfer portal with additions Walter Mathis Jr. from LSU, Cody Sigler from Arkansas, and Saint Farrior from Appalachian State.
With Walker’s eligibility secured, Auburn gains stability and experience in the middle of the defensive line as it prepares for the upcoming season and continues building under a new coaching staff.
