The Athletics have agreed to a new deal with former Reds catcher Austin Wynns. He previously spent parts of the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Reds.
In his brief time with Cincinnati in 2025, Wynns posted impressive numbers — slashing .400/.442/.700 with 14 extra-base hits in just 18 games.
After being traded to Oakland earlier in the year, Wynns appeared in 22 games there, slashing .222/.242/.444 with eight extra-base hits.
A veteran catcher, Wynns was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2013 out of California State University and made his MLB debut in June 2018.
The deal signals that Oakland sees value in Wynns’ experience behind the plate, and Wynns may serve as a stabilizing presence for the Athletics’ catching position moving forward.
