Remember when the Virginia Tech Hokies were in turmoil just three weeks ago when the transfer portal opened? Fast forward to today, and head coach Brent Pry has been busy restocking his roster. Over the weekend, former four-star RB/WR Cameron Seldon made the move from Tennessee to Virginia Tech.
On Monday, the Hokies added another high-profile transfer when offensive lineman Kyle Altuner announced he would be following coach Matt Moore from West Virginia to Blacksburg.
Altuner is the second former West Virginia offensive lineman to join Virginia Tech under Moore. Last week, Tomas Rimac, a three-year starter for the Mountaineers, committed to the Hokies and is expected to start immediately. Rimac has one year of eligibility left.

Altuner, who redshirted last season, still has four years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound lineman from Olney, Maryland, was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class, coming from the powerhouse Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. While he played tackle in high school, he is expected to compete for a starting spot at either guard or center for Virginia Tech in 2025.
The Hokies saw 16 players depart via the transfer portal, though many of those players were lower on the depth chart. The most notable losses were left tackle Xavier Chaplin (to Auburn) and cornerback Mansoor Delane (to LSU). However, Virginia Tech has rebuilt its secondary with five new portal additions.
Another strong move for Coach Pry, and it looks like Rimac and Altuner might not be the only Mountaineers following Moore to the Hokies.
