Undrafted rookie offensive lineman; after completing rookie minicamp with the Green Bay Packers, found himself placed on their reserve/retired list on May 13, 2024. However, Trente clarified the situation in a YouTube video uploaded on the day of his retirement announcement.
In the video, Trente candidly admits, “To be honest, I didn’t anticipate this being the turning point of my career, but I suffered a back injury.” He discusses the dilemma of pushing through the injury potentially risking further damage or opting for retirement to prioritize his long-term health.
Despite retiring, Trente leaves the door slightly ajar for a potential return to football, stating, “There’s also the scenario where you step away, rehabilitate your back, and then make a comeback, potentially extending your career by another 10-15 years.”
For now, Trente is retired, and his future in the sport remains uncertain.
According to Over the Cap, Trente signed a three-year contract with Green Bay worth $2,840,000, with $110,000 guaranteed. However, Sports Illustrated indicates that he won’t retain any of that money following his retirement.
