Despite Thomas scoring 25 points to Williams’ 40, his performance garnered attention. Initially considered by NC A&T, Thomas eventually chose UNCW, where his playing time gradually increased over two seasons. His decision to transfer to Norfolk State proved fruitful as he significantly contributed to the team’s success, earning recognition in the MEAC. However, following their tournament loss to Howard, Thomas opted to transfer again, this time committing to VCU before eventually choosing South Carolina. His move underscores the competitive landscape of SEC basketball, where South Carolina aims to bolster its program with top talents like Thomas.
