Ranked as the Mets’ No. 19 prospect, Gill Hill made an excellent first impression with his new organization on Thursday. Pitching for Double-A Binghamton, he tossed five scoreless innings in the Rumble Ponies’ franchise-record 23-3 blowout of Hartford at Mirabito Stadium. He surrendered only three hits and two walks, struck out four batters, and produced eight swings and misses during the outing.
The performance offered an encouraging glimpse of the talent that made Gill Hill an appealing addition for New York and suggested that the Mets may have acquired a pitcher with significant long-term potential.

In his first full season in 2023, he posted a 5.49 ERA across 41 innings split between the Rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Carolina. He then took a significant step forward in 2024, lowering his ERA to 3.15 while throwing 108 2/3 innings during his return to Single-A.
Gill Hill followed up another strong season in 2025 at High-A Bowling Green by posting a 4.49 ERA across 20 starts split between Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery, recording 87 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings. As the Mets continue shaping their future pitching plans, Gill Hill offers an appealing profile built around attacking the strike zone and limiting free passes.
He also received plenty of support in his Binghamton debut, as the Rumble Ponies’ offense erupted for a franchise-record performance. The lineup collected 21 hits, including five from leadoff hitter Mitch Voit.
The breakout night for the Mets’ No. 6 prospect featured five runs scored and two RBIs and continued his scorching start to August. Through five games this month, Voit is batting .700 (14-for-20) with 22 total bases, extending one of the hottest stretches of his young season.
