Lamons, who attends Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia, made the trip to Auburn for the highly anticipated A-Day Game held at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The visit ultimately solidified what he described as a strong connection with the program, both on and off the field.
“I love it here since i was a kid,” Lamons said after announcing his commitment. “I feel like I could do great in the offense. I feel like they would feed me the ball. I feel like my fit would be great.”
His decision represents a significant recruiting victory for Auburn, particularly given the level of competition involved. Lamons had previously been committed to Texas A&M Aggies football and was also considering offers from Florida Gators football and Alabama Crimson Tide football. Ranked as the No. 11 tight end in the 2027 class and No. 251 overall prospect nationally, Lamons brings both size and upside to a position group that Auburn is actively rebuilding. “Those are my guys right there,” Lamons said. “Great coaches. They want me to come be great. I love Coach Scott and Coach Taylor. Those are my guys right there. Coach Scott is intense and keeps it real with you.”

During his most recent season with North Carolina, Johnson recorded 16 receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown, providing a steady presence in the passing game. Echols, meanwhile, contributed nine catches for 109 yards and three touchdowns during his time with South Florida, showcasing his ability to produce in limited opportunities.
