Breaking: Steelers Lands Another 31-year-old All-Star From East Divisional Rival To a 3 Years Bridged Deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers are bolstering their special teams by signing veteran long snapper Tucker Addington, according to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson.

Addington becomes the 90th player on the roster, filling the spot left open after the team released running back Jonathan Ward ahead of training camp at Saint Vincent College.

He most recently spent time with the Houston Texans this offseason and has bounced around the league, playing for the Jaguars, Dolphins, Patriots, Commanders, Cowboys, and the XFL’s Houston Gamblers. Addington has played in 10 NFL games over his career.

He’ll now compete with Christian Kuntz, the Steelers’ current long snapper, who signed a three-year, $3.765 million deal this offseason to stay in Pittsburgh for his fifth year. Kuntz has held the long snapper role since making the 53-man roster in 2021.

While Kuntz is likely the frontrunner, the Steelers are keeping their options open. With three preseason games on the schedule, Addington could see reps to keep Kuntz fresh for the regular season — and potentially serve as an in-house backup if an injury arises later on.
