The Green Bay Packers’ cornerback room is set to look significantly different in 2025 compared to last season. The most notable development this week was former Packers standout Jaire Alexander signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens worth a \$4 million base salary.
Green Bay parted ways with the two-time Pro Bowler after the two sides failed to agree on a restructured contract. Although Alexander was among the NFL’s highest-paid cornerbacks, his availability was a concern—he appeared in only 34 of 68 games over the past four seasons, and just 14 of 34 in the last two years.
The Green Bay Packers Saw Many of Their Cornerbacks Leave in Free Agency

During the NFL offseason, the Packers bolstered their secondary by signing Nate Hobbs in free agency and drafting Micah Robinson in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Both players are expected to contribute this coming season, with Hobbs likely to start as the slot corner. However, the overall depth at cornerback will look quite different from last year.
Eric Stokes, a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders after the Packers declined his fifth-year option, making him a free agent. Meanwhile, Corey Ballentine joined the Indianapolis Colts.
Currently, Green Bay projects Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine as their starting outside corners, with Hobbs manning the slot. Beyond them, the team will lean on Robinson, Kalen King, and possibly Kamal Hadden, Isaiah Dunn, Gregory Junior, Javon Bullard (slot), or Tyron Herring for depth.
An interesting development is wide receiver Bo Melton practicing with the cornerbacks during mandatory minicamp, making him a player to keep an eye on.
Former Green Bay Packers Cornerback Robert Rochell Signed with the Dallas Cowboys
Another former Packers cornerback who left Green Bay this offseason is Robert Rochell. A Super Bowl champion with the Los Angeles Rams, Rochell spent the last two seasons with the Packers, mostly on the practice squad but appearing in 20 games, primarily on special teams.
Earlier this year, Rochell signed with the Kansas City Chiefs but was released during OTAs shortly afterward.
On Wednesday, reports confirmed that Rochell has landed with a new team: the Dallas Cowboys.
