Here’s the latest on the St. Louis Blues signing three players to one-year, two-way contracts:

The Blues have secured forward Matt Luff, defenseman Hunter Skinner, and goaltender Vadim Zherenko on new deals that include separate NHL and AHL salary structures. Each player will earn $775,000 at the NHL level, with Luff receiving $400,000 and the other two $125,000 in the AHL .

Matt Luff, 28, appeared in 50 games with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds last season, posting an impressive 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) along with 42 penalty minutes. He also notched four points in six games during a stint with the Charlotte Checkers. Across the AHL, Luff has amassed 212 points (87 goals, 125 assists) over 279 games and added 27 points in 106 NHL appearances .

Hunter Skinner, 24, played in 71 games for Springfield, adding 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) and logging 98 penalty minutes. Since being acquired from the New York Rangers in February 2023, he’s recorded 56 points and 249 penalty minutes over 203 AHL contests .

Vadim Zherenko, also 24, posted a 12‑17‑5 record in 32 AHL games with a 3.44 goals-against average and .897 save percentage. In total, he holds a 34‑40‑9 record, with a 3.37 GAA and .904 save percentage in 86 career AHL starts. Drafted by the Blues in the seventh round in 2019, Zherenko is poised to compete for NHL depth with this deal .

These signings strengthen the Blues’ organizational depth across all positions, offering experienced AHL performers ready to step in if needed.
