The Houston Astros passed on a reunion with Dallas Keuchel, They could come to regret it.

At this stage of his career, Dallas Keuchel is no longer an effective starting pitcher. He recently joined the Kansas City Royals on a minor-league contract and hopes to earn a spot on the major-league team. Still, the chances are slim. Keuchel hasn’t posted a strong season since 2020 with the Chicago White Sox, and he’s bounced around several teams since without finding success. Maybe the solution is as straightforward as going back to where it all started.

We may never find out. Keuchel captured the AL Cy Young Award with the Astros in 2015, but that feels like ages ago. His current bid to revive his career with the Royals appears more like a long shot than a realistic opportunity. Still, if things break right in Kansas City, he’ll at least have a shot to contribute to a team chasing a Wild Card berth.
