The Los Angeles Chargers have been identified as the ideal destination for Cleveland Browns star edge rusher Myles Garrett, following his trade request amid the Browns’ salary cap constraints. Garrett, a four-time All-Pro and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, has two years remaining on his five-year, $125 million contract.
Acquiring him would bolster the Chargers’ pass rush, complementing the talents of Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. Analysts suggest that the Chargers’ cap flexibility and draft assets make them strong contenders in this potential blockbuster trade.

A proposed trade package includes the Chargers sending a 2025 first-round pick (No. 22 overall), a 2025 fourth-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Browns in exchange for Garrett, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2026 seventh-round pick. This move would not only enhance the Chargers’ defensive line but also provide them with a potential long-term solution at edge rusher.
While the Browns are currently over the salary cap, trading Garrett could offer them some financial relief, especially if the deal is executed after June 1, which would allow for post-June 1 cap treatment. However, such a trade would also result in $16.4 million in dead cap space for the Browns, making it a complex decision.
For the Chargers, adding Garrett would significantly strengthen their defense, positioning them as a formidable contender in the AFC West and enhancing their Super Bowl aspirations.
