The Baltimore Ravens recently brought in DeAndre Hopkins to be a veteran presence in their receiver corps.
The Baltimore Ravens made headlines in early March when they signed veteran wide receiver and former All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins.
While the team appears confident in the move, not everyone in the football world shares their optimism.
In a recent article for Yardbarker, NFL analyst Seth Trachtman listed one potentially questionable offseason decision for each team. For the Ravens, he highlighted the Hopkins signing as a move that could prove unwise.

Trachtman pointed out that while Hopkins brings experience, it’s uncertain whether he still elevates the team’s performance. “There’s something to be said for veteran leadership,” he wrote, “but it’s unclear if Hopkins makes the Ravens better on the field.” He noted that Hopkins looked slower last season with the Titans and Chiefs and could be entering a continued decline as he nears his mid-30s.
Hopkins joins a wide receiver room that already features young talents like Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. The Ravens likely brought him in to provide leadership and depth, but he’s no longer the dominant outside threat he once was.
Despite a down year in 2024 — totaling 610 yards and five touchdowns in 16 appearances (eight starts) — Hopkins still has the potential to contribute in key moments. While he’s no longer the high-flying, one-handed catching star of years past, he may still play a valuable role as the Ravens look to compete with top AFC teams like the Chiefs and Bills.
