Breaking: Kentucky gains a promising new addition with deep-rooted Kentucky ties

The former Wildcats helped influence Lowe’s decision to join the BBN.

The Big Blue Nation is welcoming a rising talent with newfound ties to Kentucky — and two of the program’s most recognizable alumni played a role in bringing him to Lexington.

Aaron and Andrew Harrison, who starred for the Wildcats from 2013 to 2015 under coach John Calipari, quietly played a role in helping Pittsburgh transfer Jaland Lowe choose Kentucky as his next destination.

The connection between the Harrisons and Lowe dates back to Houston’s AAU basketball circles and a shared family legacy in the sport.

“I’ve known Jaland since he was a baby — from a distance, of course, since there’s a big age gap,” Aaron Harrison told KSR’s Jack Pilgrim. “He comes from a strong basketball background, and his father’s deeply involved in the game. It’s going to be an incredible experience for him. Playing at Kentucky, with that level of support, is something every basketball player dreams of.”

Aaron also expressed his commitment to mentoring Lowe: “I’m proud of him and excited for him. I’ll be there to offer advice whenever he needs it.”

Lowe arrives at Kentucky under head coach Mark Pope with high expectations and the support of two veterans who understand what it takes to thrive in Lexington.
