Breaking: Rangers Top Veteran Back From IL Earlier Than Expected

The Rangers reinstated right fielder Adolis García from the 10-day injured list and placed him in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Mets. To clear a roster spot, they sent outfielder Dustin Harris to Triple-A Round Rock. García had been sidelined for the past 10 games due to a right quad strain. Although the initial timeline suggested a longer absence, García felt ready after taking live batting practice on Saturday at Citi Field and informed the team’s training staff and manager Bruce Bochy that he was good to go.

“I expected García to be out longer,” said manager Bruce Bochy. “But sometimes players recover quicker than anticipated. We were thinking he’d need another five to seven days before returning, but he met all the necessary benchmarks. He’s ready to go, which is why he’s back in the lineup.”

Before his injury, García was on a hot streak at the plate, batting .375 (12-for-32) with a home run and seven RBIs over his last seven games.

“He was really swinging it well before he got hurt running down the line,” Bochy said. “He’s a strong defender and a key part of our lineup. It’s great to have him back.”

Meanwhile, Harris has gone 8-for-40 (.200) with a home run and two RBIs during his time with the Rangers this season. His most memorable moment came on September 5, when he delivered a walk-off double to lift Texas past the Astros, 4-3, at Globe Life Field.
