Michigan football stays hot on recruiting trail with commitment from 4-star WR

Michigan’s football program is gaining momentum on the recruiting front as summer approaches.

On Wednesday, the Wolverines secured a commitment from Zion Robinson, a four-star wide receiver from Mansfield, Texas, in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect announced his decision via a live video on Instagram.

Robinson ranks among the top wide receiver recruits Michigan has landed in the past ten years, sitting at No. 132 overall and No. 18 at his position in the 247Sports Composite rankings. This marks the second consecutive recruiting cycle that head coach Sherrone Moore’s staff has brought in a top-150 receiver, as the team aims to strengthen its aerial offense and provide more weapons for five-star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Robinson holds over 30 reported scholarship offers and is coming off a strong 2024 season, recording 42 receptions for 527 yards and eight touchdowns. A talented track athlete as well, he is the son of TCU’s director of track and field.

“While there are more refined receivers out there, few can match his mix of basketball leaping ability, a state title in the high jump, and elite athleticism in pads,” 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks noted in his evaluation. “His size and explosiveness make him dangerous in contested catch situations. He shows unexpected yards-after-catch ability and good top-end speed once he gets going. While he’s still working on consistency with his hands and route running, his junior season and Spring 2025 camp performance showed promising growth.”

Robinson becomes the 14th commit in Michigan’s 2026 class and the second receiver, joining three-star Jaylen Pile, another Texas product. The Wolverines remain in pursuit of several other top wideouts, including Miami Northwestern’s Calvin Russell, a top-50 national prospect.

This marks Michigan’s seventh verbal commitment in June.
