Last Friday, the University of Oregon announced plans to extend athletic director Rob Mullens’ contract through 2033, along with a significant pay raise. The new deal would boost his annual salary to $1.15 million, with an automatic $50,000 yearly increase, and includes performance-based incentives worth up to $100,000.

A notable clause in the proposal allows Mullens to transition into a special adviser role to the university president for up to four years, earning $200,000 annually. Additionally, if Mullens is bought out before July 1, 2030, the school would owe him 80% of his cumulative retention bonuses, according to The Oregonian.

This morning, the University of Oregon Board of Trustees officially approved the new contract for athletic director Rob Mullens, confirming his salary increase from $980,000 to $1.15 million annually, with $50,000 raises each year. With the adjustment, Mullens becomes the eighth-highest paid AD in the Big Ten and ranks among the top 20 nationally.

Mullens’ leadership has played a pivotal role in Oregon’s athletic prominence, and his extension ensures continued stability and vision at the top of the department.
