Green Bay Packers fans likely have a few teams in mind they’d hate to see Jaire Alexander join if he ever left. At the top of that list are the division-rival Minnesota Vikings, who have a well-known tendency to sign ex-Packers. Past examples include Aaron Jones, Brett Favre, Dean Lowry, Za’Darius Smith, Robert Tonyan, and several others.
In the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens appear to be the most logical landing spot for Jaire Alexander. They’re legitimate Super Bowl contenders, and Alexander shares a close friendship with Lamar Jackson. With over $18.5 million in cap space, per Over the Cap, Baltimore has the financial flexibility to make it happen. If he does land there, Packers fans would see him again in Week 17 when the Ravens visit Green Bay.
That said, Alexander is expected to draw significant interest and likely won’t rush into a decision. Another intriguing option is the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who could be a strong contender for his services. CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin has even projected Alexander to sign a one-year, $16 million deal with Philly.
Cody Benjamin noted that throughout the offseason, it seemed like a breakup between Jaire Alexander and the Packers was looming. What was once a reasonable contract started to look problematic as Alexander continued to miss time due to injuries. The separation became official just before minicamp when Green Bay released the veteran cornerback.
Benjamin pointed out that signing with the division-rival Vikings would be a bold yet logical move for both sides, while playoff hopefuls like the Rams and Ravens are also fitting destinations. Still, he highlighted the Philadelphia Eagles as the most intriguing option. Born in Philadelphia, Alexander could be a high-upside addition to their championship-caliber secondary. Benjamin predicts he’ll ink a one-year, $16 million deal with the Eagles.
If Jaire Alexander were to land in Philadelphia—and stay healthy—it could seriously hurt the Packers’ hopes of making a deep playoff push. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is among the NFL’s most aggressive decision-makers, and it’s easy to envision him adding the two-time All-Pro alongside rising stars Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, bolstering an already formidable secondary.
The Packers and Eagles already have recent history. They faced off twice last season—once in the league’s first regular season game in Brazil, and again in the NFC Wild Card round—with Philadelphia coming out on top both times. The two teams are set to clash again in Week 10 on Monday Night Football, and if Alexander suits up for the Eagles, it would add another compelling chapter to an increasingly heated rivalry.
