However, things may be stabilizing in Los Angeles. After joining the Chargers’ practice squad last season, Reagor was re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason, signaling the team sees enough value to keep him in the mix.
Despite earning a new one-year deal, Jalen Reagor still has to prove himself during OTAs to secure a spot on the Chargers’ 53-man roster. The team kicked off OTAs on Wednesday, and Reagor has already faced criticism from fans—suggesting he may have had a rocky start or failed to stand out in early drills.

According to ESPN’s Kris Rhim, Jalen Reagor dropped a pass from quarterback Justin Herbert during OTAs, which led to an interception by the defense. This miscue reignited concerns about his reliability—an issue that plagued him during his time with the Eagles, where he recorded five drops over two seasons.
Unsurprisingly, Chargers fans voiced their frustration on social media after reports of Jalen Reagor’s drop during OTAs. Given his past struggles with consistency, the early mistake didn’t sit well—especially since he’s fighting for a roster spot. Last season, Reagor appeared in eight games for Los Angeles, seeing action on 28% of offensive snaps and 15% of special teams plays, suggesting the team viewed him as a depth piece rather than a core contributor.
Jalen Reagor wasn’t a primary target in the Chargers’ offense last season, finishing with just seven catches on 12 targets for 100 yards. Still, with a crowded and competitive wide receiver room—featuring Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Mike Williams, and rookies Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith—he’ll need to drastically reduce mistakes like drops to stay in the mix.
Though he hasn’t lived up to his first-round draft status, Reagor has managed to stay in the league, which is no small feat. But with the talent Los Angeles has assembled, making the final 53-man roster will be an uphill battle.
