New York Rangers Legend Henrik Lundqvist Inducted Into The IIHF Hall of Fame

Henrik Lundqvist, the legendary goaltender who spent his entire 15-season NHL career with the New York Rangers, has been inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The induction ceremony took place on May 25, 2025, in Stockholm, Sweden, during the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship. Lundqvist was honored alongside six other distinguished figures from the world of ice hockey.

Lundqvist’s illustrious career includes a gold medal with Team Sweden at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, and a silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. He also secured a gold medal at the 2017 IIHF Men’s World Championship and represented Sweden in five World Championships. Additionally, he played in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

In the NHL, Lundqvist is the winningest European-born goaltender in league history, with 459 victories, all achieved with the Rangers. He won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goaltender for the 2011–12 season and was a finalist for the award five times. Lundqvist was also named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team in 2012 and played in five All-Star Games.

The IIHF Hall of Fame induction ceremony was part of a gala event that celebrated the contributions of seven individuals to the sport of ice hockey. The other inductees included Zdeno Chara, Kim Martin-Hasson, Vicky Sunohara, David Vyborny, Frans Nielsen, and Kai Hietaranta. The event was emceed by TSN’s Gord Miller.

Lundqvist’s induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the sport of ice hockey, both in the NHL and internationally. His legacy continues to inspire future generations of players and fans alike.
