Baltimore Ravens star running back Derrick Henry won’t commit to retirement.
Henry, now 31, joined the Ravens in 2024 on a two-year, $16 million contract. In his first season with the team, he rushed for 1,921 yards and led the league with 16 touchdowns over 17 starts. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a nomination for Offensive Player of the Year .
The extension underscores Henry’s continued elite performance and the Ravens’ commitment to retaining top talent. General Manager Eric DeCosta praised Henry’s contributions, noting his leadership both on and off the field .

In addition to his base salary, Henry’s contract includes performance-based incentives. He can earn up to $2 million in incentives for achieving milestones such as rushing for over 1,200 or 1,500 yards, totaling 13 or 15 touchdowns, or rushing for over 1,000 yards and winning the Super Bowl in the same season .
Henry’s extension is part of the Ravens’ broader strategy to strengthen their roster. Despite facing salary cap challenges, the team has made several key acquisitions and re-signings, including retaining linebacker Jake Hummel and quarterback Cooper Rush, and restructuring contracts for players like cornerback Marlon Humphrey .
Looking ahead, Henry has expressed his desire to finish his career in Baltimore. At the NFL Honors, he stated, “I want to retire a Raven,” signaling his commitment to the team and its future success .
