HBO Greenlights ‘Kelly’s Kingdom’ Biopic Set for 2026 Release
HBO has announced a new biographical drama, Kelly’s Kingdom, slated for a 2026 premiere. The film will chronicle the Buffalo Bills’ legendary run in the early 1990s. Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling is set to star as Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, while Chris Hemsworth will portray revered head coach Marv Levy, according to sources reported by ESPN.
Jim Kelly was the driving force behind the Bills’ unprecedented streak of four straight Super Bowl appearances from 1990 to 1993, a feat still unmatched in NFL history. His grit and leadership solidified his status as one of football’s greats, culminating in his Hall of Fame induction in 2002.

Gosling, recognized for his roles in La La Land and Drive, is expected to capture Kelly’s passion and charisma. Hemsworth, famous for portraying Thor, will take on Levy’s inspiring leadership style and his iconic mantra: “Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?”
“This is a story of resilience, and HBO is the perfect place to tell it,” said director Ava DuVernay. “We want to show the soul of Buffalo through the lens of Kelly and Levy.”
The film will dive into the heart of the Bills’ 1990s dynasty, led by stars like Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith, and will spotlight the fast-paced K-Gun offense and the emotional highs and lows that defined an unforgettable era in NFL history.
