The Baltimore Ravens have signed undrafted kicker John Hoyland from Wyoming to compete for the starting kicker position following the release of veteran kicker Justin Tucker. Tucker, a seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time first-team All-Pro, was released on May 5 amid a league investigation into sexual misconduct allegations involving 16 women and incidents at multiple Baltimore-area spas between 2012 and 2016.
While general manager Eric DeCosta stated the release was a football decision, public attention around the investigation likely influenced the team’s direction.

The Ravens had already drafted kicker Tyler Loop from Arizona in the sixth round, setting up a competition between the two rookies. Hoyland earned his spot after a strong performance at the team’s rookie minicamp, following a solid 2024 season in which he made 15 of 19 field goal attempts and was perfect on extra points.
The Ravens have a history of discovering talent at the kicker position, having previously signed undrafted kickers such as Justin Tucker, Graham Gano, and Wil Lutz, all of whom became Pro Bowlers
