In response to Devers’ unhappiness and the Red Sox’s need for a first baseman, a trade proposal has emerged. The suggested deal would send Devers to the Cubs in exchange for a package of prospects, including Matt Shaw (Cubs No. 1, MLB No. 16), Moises Ballesteros (Cubs No. 4, MLB No. 63), and Jefferson Rojas (Cubs No. 7, MLB No. 91) .
This trade would address the Cubs’ ongoing issues at third base, a position that has seen instability due to underperformance from Matt Shaw and a rotation between Jon Berti and Nicky Lopez.
