Juuso Parssinen re-signs with the Rangers. But will the underused forward finally get his chance to shine under Mike Sullivan?
The New York Rangers have signed forward Juuso Pärssinen to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on May 2, 2025. The deal carries an average annual value of $1.25 million and includes a $150,000 signing bonus for the 2025–26 season .
Pärssinen, 24, was acquired by the Rangers at the March 1 trade deadline from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Ryan Lindgren, forward Jimmy Vesey, and prospect Hank Kempf. The trade also involved two conditional 2025 draft picks . Over the final 23 games of the season, Pärssinen appeared in 11 games for the Rangers, recording two goals and three assists. He was a healthy scratch in 12 of those games.

Despite limited playing time, Pärssinen expressed appreciation for his experience with the Rangers, highlighting the organization’s support and the city’s appeal. He plans to focus on improving his skating during the offseason .
With this extension, Pärssinen will remain with the Rangers through the 2026–27 season. At the conclusion of the new contract, he will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights .
The Rangers now have approximately $8.4 million in salary cap space, with several other restricted free agents, including K’Andre Miller, Will Cuylle, and Matt Rempe, still to be addressed by general manager Chris Drury .
