It was an eventful weekend for the Virginia Tech Hokies. They secured their first spring addition from the transfer portal with the commitment of North Dakota State defensive tackle Kody Huisman—an important move after several players had recently departed via the portal.
Amid a weekend highlighted by five former Hokies being selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, head coach Brent Pry also picked up another transfer: Hawaii cornerback Caleb Brown.
Brown, a 6-foot-1 defensive back, played high school football at Lithia Springs High School in Georgia. He originally committed to Kennesaw State, where he spent two seasons before moving on to Butler Community College. He then transferred to Hawaii, where he played the last two seasons—appearing in 13 games in 2023 and 10 more in the following season.
During the winter transfer period, the Hokies bolstered their secondary by bringing in several new faces, including cornerbacks Joseph Reddish and Isaiah Brown-Murray. While junior Dante Lovett has secured one of the starting cornerback spots, the other remains up for grabs. The three incoming transfers will compete alongside three true freshmen and three returning players for the chance to start opposite Lovett.
